• Q: Why do I need a password for the downloads?
  • To protect the download files from “spam bots”, malicious downloads and the like.
• Q: How do I get a Download Password?
  • Look in the right column for the “password request” forms. Complete the form for the download area you want to access, validate the email that you receive then we will send you a valid password for all of the downloads in that download area.
• Q: What if I lose this password?
  • Fill out the password request form again and you will get the password.
• Q: Will I need a password or new password every time?
  • No. Once you have a valid password, the site remembers that and allows you to access that download area until we change the password about once a month (for security reasons).
• Q: Will I be put on your email list?
  • Yes. When you validate the first email, you are added to a mailing list. Each download area has a different mailing list.
  • If you want downloads from two download areas, you are added to the respective mailing lists.
  • You can unsubscribe at anytime and still access the download area until the passwords are changed.
• Q: Why does my password not allow me to log into the NEF site?
  • Download passwords are only valid to access the download area. You are not creating a NEF site account.
  • The NEF website has a separate registration process that allows you access to participate in the  forums and post your comments to the Networking Guide Articles and Postings.
• Q: Why doesn’t my NEF site password work for the download area?
  • Security. Registered NEF users need a separate password to access each download area.
  • Please understand that we have 100s of invalid registration attempts daily from robots that want to spam our site – and some of them do get access to the site. We value the content of our site and the files that we make available for you to download. This was the best solution we could devise to protect the downloads and still make make it easy for you to get the downloads. That is without making the downloads a complete free-for-all that every robot out there could abuse.
