Every Chamber of Commerce has a Board of Directors. There are benefits most people never dream of when you serve on a Chamber Board. (The higher up in the leadership, the more ”street cred”) The status implies you are a leader and a person with “their finger on the pulse of their local business community”. Your title lends credibility on your resume, Speaker’s Bio and your LinkedIn profile. You’ll be quoted in the local newspapers. Speaking opportunities will be easier to secure. You will meet people you would not meet through your own business. Ask anyone who is currently serving on a BOD why they are there and I guarantee you will get these two answers: They want to give back to the business community, and great NETWORKING. Be strategic about all your associations; you are passionate about serving, that’s why your are there, but take advantage of the exposure, too. Put your title on every piece of your business literature, your online profiles, send Twitter tweets about chamber happenings – This was an investment of your time & money…Work it! Your standing in the business community can’t help but be enhanced in direct proportion to the level of your passion and commitment.
You Are Never Bored On A Board
