Networking in Manhattan – EANYC

In our continuing nationwide discussion of the effect of the economy on the business networking scene we heard from daneilleeanycDaneille Seltzer of the New York City chapter of the exclusive Executives Association.
It was good to re-connect with Danielle. We had met three years ago when she graciously allowed me to attend an EANYC luncheon (at the Harvard Club!) while visiting from San Diego.

“EANYC has been in the business of networking for 78 years! Of course, there has been many business cycles during this long history. As an Association, our members and prospective members have found that face to face networking is even more important in today’s economic climate. Our membership has been growing in 2009 and we have many interested prospects. We have not offered any “deals” as we know that an investment in membership will basically guarantee a huge return on investment. Last year, our membership of 75 quality companies generated $10 million dollars in the pockets of our members. That translates to over $100,000 per member! (Can’t make that number in the stock market for a $5,000 investment!).

What sets us apart from other groups is that we accept the president, partner or high level decision maker of a firm and give them an exclusive business category. There is a time commitment to remain a member and this allows our members to form meaningful relationships; which is the bedrock of networking. As far as, the online or social networking aspect, our members use those formats to complement their membership at EANYC. With LinkedIn, it gives the members information about each other’s relationships and then allows another member to ask for a personal introduction.

We meet at The Harvard Club on Thursdays from 12:30-2:00 three times a month. We are glad to invite any qualified guests to a meeting to see how membership in EANYC can help their business grow. All guests must be pre-approved and meet the minimum criteria of $3 million plus in revenue; owner, partner, high level decision maker; non-competing business classification. No charge for qualified guests.”

Thank you Danielle, for your warm welcome three years ago. I am still in touch with a couple of people I met that day. EANYC is obviously flouishing under your leadership. ~ Mindy
