Each year during the first full weekend of August this sleepy mountain hamlet is transformed into the harmonica capital of the western world. Entering its 20th year in 2009 (August 7-9), the Yellow Pine Harmonica Contest (honoring prospecting pioneers) has grown into one of the world's largest (and most fun!) harmonica events. The contest begins at 11:00am on Saturday with the Youth and Adult Divisions. The Open Grand Champion Division starts at 1:00pm Saturday. Winners will be announced and trophies and prize monies awarded at 5:00pm Saturday. The Summer Music Festival is presented the third full weekend (including Thursday) of July at Roseberry. Thursday is Locals' Night, followed by Friday and Saturday concerts. Concerts have been held on the lawn and outdoor stage on the south side of the Roseberry Store; however, new this year (2009), the festival will take place on our new permanent stage located a few yards southeast of the Roseberry General Store. Concessionaire tents are erected for the duration of the production. These concert facilities require numerous volunteers to set up and take down. Nightly tickets cost about $15 for adults, and children under age 12 are free. Coolers are allowed. PLEASE TRY AND CARPOOL, parking is limited.
